Despite what the rumours and a leak had said earlier this week, the newest (free!) Star Wars: Battlefront update for January will not feature a set of free maps. After a leak from EA Brazil stating that there will be a number of updates like skins, private matches, and Tatooine maps, the game’s Lead Lighting Artist Oscar Carlen debunked the map(s) info.
Twitter and YouTube personality BattlefrontUpdates created a video of his own commenting on the new additions to the game. Less than 24 hours later, Carlen responded to his tweets and video:
Sorry, but the January update does not contain a new map… It is still a great patch, I dont think you will be dissapointed
Carlen does confirm that patches are done well ahead of time, and the information released or “leaked” was a mistake in regards to the new map(s). Despite some disgruntled feedback he seemed to get online, Carlen does express his understanding with fans’ excitement over another classic location being added to the game:
Its heartbreaking to see fans setting themselves up to be disappointed when we work so hard to make you happy
January patch hype is strong. Manage your expectations please! #battlefront

With January almost coming to a close, the patch date hasn’t been announced but must be coming soon. It’s also previously ben confirmed that it will be the first patch with free content.
