We are one step closer to a long-awaited sequel of one of Tim Burton’s best movies. Beetlejuice 2 has received a major update with its official title and release date from Warner Bros. Posted on its social media accounts, the studio confirmed the film will be titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and will be released on September 6 (seen below). The official name is a nod to the way characters summon Michael Keaton’s ghost, who reunites with Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz.
Not many details are known about the sequel to the 1988 classic. We do know that newcomer Jenna Ortega will play Ryder’s daughter. It will also star Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci.
Beetlejuice 2 Title and Release Date Summoned by Warner Bros.
The Beetlejuice 2 title has gained fun fan reactions. Some users are wondering if the third film will be called Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. With only a poster, people have started asking for a trailer, which we don’t know when we can expect to be summoned. Then, there were plenty of people replying with GIFs of the first movie to share their excitement for the sequel that has been in the making for nearly 40 years.
The original film followed a poltergeist couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) trying to scare out the new family who moved into their home. During attempts to get rid of the couple (Catherine O’Hara and Jeffrey Jones) and their teenage daughter (Ryder), a mischievous ghost is summoned.
When the September release date for Beetlejuice 2 rolls around, we will see how this big reunion worked out. Tim Burton returns to direct, while he is joining previous collaborators for the effort. He is joined by Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who co-wrote the script. Ortega got to work with the trio after the first season of Wednesday, which is set to start production on the second season later this year. The director also is back with composer Danny Elfman, who composed many of his films like the original supernatural comedy.
