Below Deck fans have reacted to Alissa Humber’s firing. Since the beginning of season 10 of Below Deck, second stew Alissa has been one of the most contentious characters on the show. Many fans have long predicted her sacking and judgment day finally came for her on the Monday, February 20, episode of Below Deck. The episode featured Captain Sandy firing Alissa for her constant, blatant disrespect toward authorities and the hierarchy. This lousy attitude became more glaring over the last couple of episodes. Alissa also had a couple of run-ins with Captain Sandy, beginning from the moment the latter overheard Alissa talking badly about her behind her back. Alissa thought Sandy had unfairly criticized the interior team’s performance and called her “delusional” during a conversation with chief stew Fraser Olender.
The issue started after Sandy caught Alissa sunbathing while deck member Tyler did his chores. When Sandy confronted Alissa about slacking in her duties, she interrupted the captain disrespectfully. However, Alissa’s actions during episode 12 ultimately led to her firing. While Captain Sandy was talking to her about her behavior, she called the captain by her name. Although she immediately corrected herself, Sandy believed it was deliberate and the ultimate sign of disrespect. Sandy later explained her decision to the crew members, including chief stew Fraser Olender. They all accepted it, and Sandy helped prepare the boat for the charter guests. Meanwhile, Alissa claimed she was fired for doing nothing wrong and accused Sandy of running a “dictatorship.” Many of the show’s fans have since taken to social media to give their opinions on Alissa’s sacking.
Below Deck Fans Question Captain Sandy’s Decision Making
Below Deck fans have been coming down hard on Captain Sandy in the last couple of episodes. Many have already dubbed her the villain of the season, and following the sacking of Alissa, they are now questioning her decision-making. While most viewers didn’t seem to have a problem with Sandy firing Alissa, they found everything wrong with the timing. The boat expected charter guests in two hours, and they felt she could have delayed the decision. One of the show’s viewers tweeted:
“Sandy telling Fraser to get his department in order and then firing Alissa the next morning is truly next level Sandy. WHICH IS IT? #belowdeck.”
Fans of the show also started a conversation on Reddit in which many of them felt the timing of Alissa’s sacking showed it was more personal than professional. The fans claimed Alissa had bruised Sandy’s ego, and she could not have her around anymore. Many Redditors also slammed Sandy’s micromanagement, revealing it was the reason they had stopped watching Below Deck Mediterranean, and now she has tainted this show with that same approach.
Below Deck Fans Believe Alissa Deserved Getting Fired
The exciting thing about the fans criticizing Sandy’s decision-making was that none objected to Alissa’s firing. They mostly had reservations about the timing of the sack. Meanwhile, another group of fans was in a celebratory mood after Alissa received her marching orders. The fans praised Captain Sandy for taking decisive action and blamed Alissa for her woes. One Twitter fan wrote:
“Alissa is a disrespectful child. Disrespectful to everybody. She got daddy issues, clearly.”
Some other fans claimed Alissa was the most unlikeable person on the boat and were shocked she did not feel she did anything wrong. Fans rubbished her claims of being the scapegoat and described her as cancer on the ship. Below Deck fans could not resist the urge to bring up her feud with Camille. Most of the viewers felt the two share similar toxic traits, and their ouster from the show was well-deserved.
