Katalina is the living embodiment of a Knight in shining armor, which makes her a fantastic character in Granblue Fantasy: Relink if you have the right build. With Ares by her side, she can freeze and shatter foes on the spot or even keep all party members alive if she wants. With so much versatility, Katalina is a crew member you should consider having in your group at all times. So, if you want to safeguard those around you or kick butt with some icy spells, this faithful protector has it all.
How To Build Katalina in Granblue Fantasy: Relink
Anyone who’s followed the mobile game or the anime knows that Katalina is all about protecting those close to her. Thankfully, Cygames translated that flawlessly into the game and gave us great abilities to make this knight stand out as a force to be reckoned with or as a bastion. Since we’ve been using her for many quests, we discovered two builds that work perfectly for her.
DPS Build
For those who want to dominate the battleground with ice spells, there’s a great DPS build for Katalina in Granblue Fantasy: Relink. She might not be the best in terms of damage, with other characters outshining her with faster cooldowns and heavy-hitting skills, but she can still hold her own during combat.
Weapon: Murgleis
Murgleis is the weapon we recommend for this build. Similar to other DPS characters, this one provides a flat attack increase that improves as you level the weapon up. Furthermore, you can add specific Wrightstones to increase her Crit Damage, or whichever stat you feel she needs the most.
Skills and Sigils
You might’ve noticed that Katalina doesn’t have as many skills as other characters, but there’s a reason for that. She has an Ares gauge, which fills up as you fight and perform certain actions. All of Katalina’s skills become more powerful once you summon areas; they also get a different effect. In any fight, your focus should be to summon Ares first and then activate your skills to do more damage. Here are the ones we recommend:
- Winter’s Rain
- Enchanted Lands
- Azure Sword
- Sacred Winds
When fighting, we recommend opening up with Sacred Winds. This one is a fantastic crowd-control skill that will allow other party members to set up some combos or start their rotation, such as Gran and Djeeta, who need to raise their Arts Level. After that, focus on getting Ares’ gauge up and then continue with the remaining skills as you see fit. The one you should spam at all times in Azure Sword to fill up your gauge constantly. To improve her combat skills further, here are the Sigils you should watch out for:
- Attack Power
- Stun Power
- Skilled Assault
- Quick Cooldown
- Cascade
- Critical Hit Rate
Katalina is an expert at doing stun damage, so try to equip her with Sigils that boost that effect and focus on unlocking nodes that provide more stun capabilities on her Mastery Tree.
Support Build
The second build on our list for Katalina in Granblue Fantasy: Relink is a pure support one. While she can do tremendous amounts of damage, she can also keep herself and others out of harm’s way and even brush off death if needed. Here’s what you should get for her to make this build come true:
Weapon: Rukalsa
Katalina’s starter weapon is the best you can get for her due to the HP increase. Since she’ll be tanking and healing with this setup, it’s better to make her as sturdy as possible with a lot of health points. Like any other weapons, though, if you feel she’s lacking a bit of damage, use your preferred Wrightstones on her armaments.
Skills and Sigils
Katalina’s skills for this build will be more on the defensive side. However, just like the DPS ones, you should always focus on getting Ares out first before using any of her abilities. Here are the ones we recommend:
- Light Wall
- Emerald Shield
- Heal
- Winter’s Rain
Since you’ll be supporting your team, you don’t need to worry much about the rotation. Still, it’s important to keep Winter’s Rain up at all times to provide stun damage. The rest of the skills are situational and you should enable them only if you see things are getting hairy. For Sigils, here are the ones you should equip:
- Health
- Aegis
- Stun Power
- Quick Cooldown
- Drain
- Stamina
If you want the enemies to focus on you, equip Provoke to taunt foes. Doing so will let your other party members focus on eliminating those pesky goblins and skeletons.
Overall, Katalina works perfectly in many situations with her plethora of skills. You can also combine two builds into a more hybrid one, but we haven’t tried it, so we can’t recommend it. Still, this new entry gives players the freedom to experiment, so don’t be afraid of trying something risky when playing.
