This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

You can’t do much in Palworld without Pals to give you wood. It’s an essential resource for most structures in the game. Thankfully, many Pals can chop lumber or timber, and most who can will do so without instruction. But just because they can, doesn’t mean they should; some Pals procure wood much faster. To maximize your Pals, here’s a guide for the best lumbering Pal in Palworld.

List of Effective Lumbering Pals

To be more efficient with lumbering or cutting wood, you’ll want Pals with Level 3 Lumbering in their work suitability stats. There’s only a few of those in-game.

However, some of them are easier to obtain. Here’s a good list of the Pals with Level 3 Lumbering:

  • Bushi
  • Warsect
  • Wumpo
  • Wumpo Botan

Your best bet here is the Bushi field boss. It’s the nearest among them, as the Bushi field boss is located just east of the initial player spawn area. However, both Wumpo Botan and Warsect are located in the same area (No.2 Wildlife Sanctuary island), so you can also try to catch both of them.

Meanwhile, the regular Wumpo is far to the north in the frozen biomes, so it might be more difficult to catch it if you don’t have proper armor. Still, Wumpo works best here since it also has a high Transporting level to carry all the wood to storage.

Alternatives for a Lumbering Pal

If you’re looking for quantity, then you also can’t go wrong with Pals that have Level 1 or 2 in Lumbering. There’s more of them and you can also access them much easier around the map.

You can even obtain some of them near the starting area.

  • Lifmunk (Level 1 Lumbering)
  • Tanzee (Level 1 Lumbering)
  • Eikthyrdeer (Level 2 Lumbering)
  • Dinossom (Level 2 Lumbering)

Some of them can also extend their duties beyond Lumbering.

Upgrading Lumbering Pals

Fret not if you only have access to Level 1 or Level 2 Lumbering Pals, as you can upgrade their work suitability. You can use the Pal Essence Condenser to upgrade a particular Pal’s work suitability (all of them by one level).

But since the Pal Essence Condenser can be costly if you’re not in the endgame yet, we recommend using them sparingly until then. In this case, you might want to conserve most of your resources for the Pal Essence Condenser until you have Level 3 Lumbering Pals.

If you want to maximize it, make sure to pick a Pal with multiple work suitabilities instead of just one or two. Wumpo, again, is the best candidate here.
