It may be difficult for you to choose the best ones, as there are more than 80 of them in the game. We will help you solve this problem and tell you about the best skills in Starfield. All the skills we’ve selected below will be extremely useful for your progression, but you can choose others that are more suited to your play style.
Starfield: Best Skills Guide
As we mentioned above, there are more than 80 skills in the game, and even reading them all will take you a long time. To highlight the best of them, we will divide them into categories, identical to the ones in the game, namely:

Starfield: Best Physical Skills
The best skills in the Physical category are the following:
Stealth
Stealth is an extremely helpful skill that will be useful in any battle and will allow you to bypass enemies unnoticed. When you level up this skill, you will get a Stealth Meter. At the first level, you get only a 25% chance of not being detected, but with the upgrade of this skill, the number increases to 100%. In addition, you also receive additional damage from suppressed weapons when you perform a sneak attack.
Skills that are also worth paying attention to:
- Rejuvenation: Passive HP recovery outside of combat.
- Nutrition: Drinks and food are 10% more effective.
- Gymnastics: You unlock the combat slide ability and take 15% less damage when you fall.
Starfield: Best Tech Skills
The best skills in the Tech category are the following:
Security
If you like to loot everything, this skill will be very helpful. With its help, you can pick locks more easily, thereby providing you with more items. As you level up, you also get the ability to pick even more locks, as well as other useful stuff.

- Engine Systems: Increases the maximum speed of the ship.
- Shield Systems: Increases shield capacity on the ship.

Commerce
This skill will become your favorite if you want to earn extra money or just love trading. Use it to save money on purchases and then sell them for more. At the first level, the discount is 5%, and the selling price increases to 10%. If you decide to upgrade the skill to the last level, the discount will increase to 20% and the selling price up to 25%.

- Persuasion: Increases success chances when using persuasion.
- Theft: Unlocks the ability to pickpocket.
- Ship Command: Increases the total number of team members you can assign.
Starfield: Best Science Skills
The best skills in the Science category are the following:
Planetary Habitation
The number of outposts you can build increases with the level of this skill, from 4 to 16 pieces. Also, for each new level, you will unlock the ability to build outposts on planets with specific conditions, namely extreme temperatures, extreme pressure, toxic or corrosive atmospheres, as well as extreme gravity.
Some other good Science skills:
- Medicine: Med and Trauma packs increase the effect and speed of treatment.
- Geology: You will get more uncommon and common inorganic resources from surface objects.
- Surveying: You get an optional zoom to the hand scanner, as well as an increased scanning distance.

The best skills in the Combat category are the following:
Rapid Reloading
Many battles will end unfavorably just because you don’t have time to reload, but not if you have this skill. Rapid Reloading at level 1 will speed up the reloading of ballistic weapons by up to 30%. Reaching the last level, you can increase this number to 50%, not only for ballistic but for all weapons in general.
