Due to its massive open world, secrets are hidden around every corner of Starfield. As is standard with other Bethesda RPGs, Easter Eggs are plentiful in its newest release. This includes callbacks to other Bethesda games, inside jokes about other famous sci-fi properties, and real-life references recreated in the virtual world. For players who like to hunt for secrets, they have their work cut out for them. Although it’ll take years before every last hidden detail is discovered, players have already done a good job picking out the more glaring secrets. Here are some of the best Easter Eggs and references found in Starfield so far.

“I Used To Be An Adventurer Like You…”

This Easter Egg brings back a classic references to Skyrim in Starfield.

Two Easter Eggs referencing the infamous line, “I used to be an adventurer like you…” from Skyrim, have been discovered in Starfield. First, one of the NPC voice lines was found to say, “I used to be an explorer too, until I – No, never mind. It’s a long story.” Of course, this is a very tongue-in-cheek joke poking fun at the massively prolific status that this Easter Egg had.

“…Until I Took An Arrow To The Knee”

This Starfield Skill also holds a similar Easter Egg and reference.

The second reference to this line comes in the form of the art for a skill in Starfield. The first artwork for the Crippling Skill shows a picture of a knee. After upgrading the perk, the artwork depicts an arrow after it’s been shot into the knee. As far as Easter Eggs go, this is the perfect level of subtlety to be perfect for Starfield.

The Adoring Fan Returns As A Starfield Easter Egg

For yet another Elder Scrolls Easter Egg in Starfield, the Adoring Fan makes a return. This follower was iconic in Oblivion, acting as a groupie for players who completed the arena. Now, the character returns when players choose the “Hero Worshipped” trait, with the same voice actor and personality. This is certainly one of the best references to the Elder Scrolls so far.

This Skyrim Easter Egg In Starfield Is Small But Memorable

Even small nods are fun to see.

One eagle-eyed Reddit user named Ruo_Randamu spotted a tiny detail holding a small Skyrim Easter Egg in Starfield. While looking through some prison logs, this user discovered the name Delvin Mallory listed among them. For those that don’t know, this was a character in Skyrim and a high-ranking member of Riften’s Thieves Guild.

A Scroll And A Book

This inside joke is perfect for players to find.

Finally, for our Elder Scrolls Easter Eggs in Starfield, some players have noticed a small joke left by Bethesda. When exploring The Lodge, Reddit user justchillalittle spotted a scroll holder held up by the book Great Expectations. While this may seem odd at first, this user concluded that it must be a reference to the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6, which is also a scroll held up by “great expectations.”

Starfield Has Been Trying to Contact You With This Easter Egg

Starfield has plenty of meme Easter Eggs in the game.

A common meme that has gone around the internet is the “extended warranty” meme. In this meme, through often ridiculous circumstances, a scammer will call someone, inquiring about their car’s extended warranty. This meme was directly referenced in a Starfield Easter Egg when a ship says the line, “We’ve been trying to contact you about your ship’s extended warranty.”

Starfield’s Earthly References

The Pyramids can be seen in game.

One of the many places you can visit in Starfield is our home planet Earth. Although in a ruined state, players have discovered some classic earthly landmarks here. This includes the pyramids, moon landing sites, and many more. Each of these locations will also net players a collectible snow globe as well. For any of Starfield’s stalwart explorers and secret hunters, these are some cool things to check out.

A NASA Easter Egg Is Hidden In Starfield’s Tutorial

This Easter Egg comes early in the game.

Strangely, the Earthly secrets and Easter Eggs don’t just pertain to our home planet in Starfield. Some can even be found right in the tutorial of the game. If players explore off the beaten path a bit, they may run into some rocks that can be cut through. Inside, players will find a mug from NASA alongside some Europium. While this is an extremely tiny detail, it’s a nice nod to our own space explorations here on Earth.

Lord of the Rings Reference Hidden In Potatoes

Additionally, some item descriptions in Starfield hide some of the best secrets and Easter Eggs. This includes potatoes, which have a description that reads, “Can be prepared many ways. Boiled, mashed, used in a stew – the recipes are nearly limitless”. Although this may feel like standard flavor text, it’s also a direct reference to Samwise telling Gollum about the wonders of potatoes.

“I’m Something of a Pilot Myself”

This references the classic Spider-Man (2002)

In the Well in New Atlantis, players have found a subtle reference to yet another classic movie line in Starfield while talking to the NPC Altagracia Gonzalez. This time, players have the dialogue option, “I’m something of a pilot myself,” a direct nod to the “I’m something of a scientist myself” line from Spider-Man (2002).
