Bill Gates continues to give insight into his love life, both the good and the bad. The billionaire recently dished on his budding romance with Paula Hurd, confirming that all is going well with his new relationship. However, has Gates completely closed his chapter with his ex-wife, Melinda Gates?
On Tuesday, Bill appeared on the Today Show to promote his memoir Source Code: My Beginnings and gushed about his new relationship for the first time. “I’m lucky to have a serious girlfriend named Paula,” he told host Savannah Guthrie. “We’re having fun. Going to the [Paris] Olympics and lots of great things.”
Paula and Bill’s romance first made headlines in late 2022 after the duo were spotted at several events together. However, it wasn’t until 2023 that they were confirmed as an item. Before becoming lovers, the pair hung out in the same circle. Paula Hurd was previously married to former Oracle CEO Mark Hurd until his tragic passing in 2019.
Although they aren’t the ones to flaunt some PDA, Bill and Paula aren’t shy of showing off their love at public events. The lovebirds have attended several major events, including fellow billionaire Jeff Bezos‘s engagement party to Lauren Sanchez. In April 2024, they finally made their red carpet debut in coordinated black looks at the 10th annual Breakthrough Prize Ceremony in Los Angeles.
Bill Gates Clears The Air About ‘Mistake’ In Melinda Gates Marriage
During the interview, Bill’s recent remark that his divorce from Melinda was “the mistake I most regret” was brought up. When asked if he wished he could “wave a magic wand” to make it all go away, Bill said he “wouldn’t go that far.” Instead, he explained:
“Despite the fact that the divorce wasn’t great, having those three kids, the work we were able to do together—even if I knew that it [wouldn’t] last forever, I would still do it again.”
The Microsoft founder continued, “My business career, though there’s been some up and downs, has been incredibly phenomenal. My kids are phenomenal. So it’s even hard for me to complain about things.” Nevertheless, the 69-year-old promised he is not hung up on his ex-wife despite his regret over their split.
“I’ve moved past the divorce, and Melinda’s doing well,” Bill concluded. Despite the confession, fans online aren’t convinced his new relationship is the real deal, especially since he still talks about Melinda.
“How respectfully serious could he be? He publicly just came out unnecessarily, saying he regrets divorcing his ex-wife,” one fan slammed.
“His new girlfriend looks SO much like his ex-wife Melinda,” one fan observed, insinuating Bill isn’t over Melinda.
“Bill Gates certainly has a preference for women who have a very strong-looking jawline,” a similar comment read.
