Actress, Model, public speaker, and cosplayer Angel Giuffria has had quite the eventful week! The amputee cosplayer put together her own spin on Star Wars in her newest costume project. With the help of fellow amputee cosplayer Trace Wilson, she was able to construct a lightsaber suitable for someone in her position. Even after the tremendous response the costume got, something happened that not even she could have expected. Her images caught the attention of Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.

Look no further than inspirational #BionicActress @aannggeellll for the next generation of @starwars heroes-
Clearly you believe in yourself. Now all you've got to do is work hard, never give up & ANYTHING'S possible! (The Force is obviously with you…)❤️-Mar🐫#FutureJedi https://t.co/agZsbzrX6z

Of course, as any Star Wars fan would do in her situation, she promptly freaked out when she saw that her new project had caught the attention of one of her heroes.

I can’t say I wasn’t hoping he’d notice me when I tagged him in the post but when he actually did, I had to let it sink in, I found myself ‘happy crying’ in my hotel room at him being such a kind and supportive role model. (Via Yahoo Lifestyle)

They weren’t able to do this by themselves though, with the help of Saberforge and Touch Bionics by Ossur, both Trace and Angel were able to turn their dreams into a reality. On Twitter, Giuffria thanked everyone who helped her create this project:

Thanks to my bionic PnC @BionicAuthor & @Saberforge for the saber parts! Prosthesis by @ArmDynamics

This isn’t the first time Angel has received some national attention though. In 2017, she and several of her friends were on the front pages of Reddit when they were chosen to test out some bionic prosthetics and do some Archery for the U.S. Government. She’s hopeful that this national attention and now the attention of a Celebrity and the face of a franchise will help the cosplay community be more inclusive to people like her.
