Edward Richtofen is one of the main protagonists in the Call of Duty Zombies storyline, and probably the reason why we’ve got more outbreaks happening in the Black Ops 6 Zombies in the first place. But we never saw anything more from him past the Liberty Falls trailer back in August 2024. However, it seems like Black Ops 6 Zombies Season 3 The Mansion map is going to give us more answers about the character, and well, Treyarch and Edward Richtofen’s voice actor are giving more side info about the next update, all of which sounds promising. Bonus news: Amalgams are no longer.

First things first, here’s the first official look at The Mansion Zombies map. The image is shared by the developers at Treyarch on X, and it seems like the photo was taken from a CCTV camera. The date is 2/28/1991, which is just 3 days after the events of The Tomb. So it seems like it’s either the aftermath of when the Terminus crew reaches Liberty Falls, or it has taken them 6 days to get there.
From what we previously had in the Black Ops 6 Zombies story, we know that the crew has secured the Sentinel Artifact and they’re bringing it to Edward Richtofen’s mansion just so that the S.A.M. AI can tell them how to utilize the relic. However, Richtofen himself was last seen in this place before getting trapped in the Dark Aether, so there will be a lot to discover about the doctor in The Mansion in Black Ops 6 Zombies Season 3.
Speaking of which, Nolan North, the voice behind Edward Richtofen since the character was created in Call of Duty: World at War, has shared some info about the upcoming map. What he says is not %100 the story behind the map as he likes to please fans by playing the role of Richtofen in meetings, but he does mention some things that are worth considering. Take a look:
Nolan North namedrops Samuel in this video. Edward Richtofen’s lost son. It seems like Richtofen has been trying to do all this to save Samuel, and with this namedrop, things are getting more and more curious about the ultimate plan behind Project Janus. To revive Richtofen’s lost wife and son? Who knows.
The one thing we know that’ll happen, however, is that we don’t have to fight those pesky Amalgams in The Mansion Zombies map. Good news, undead hunters, the damn creatures of the Terminus Island will not appear on the next map, as Treyarch has officially confirmed this on X in a reply post.
Part of the reason why some fans didn’t enjoy their time on The Tomb was because there were so many elite boss zombies in it. Doppelghasts, Mimics, Parasites, and Amalgams all in one frame don’t create a good picture. Wonder what we’re getting next for The Mansion as the main elite zombie. Disciples, maybe?
