The sidescrolling, whipping action returns to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night with its upcoming expansion. In fact, the game has had a multitude of updates this year after launching in 2019. Since the Koji Igarashi title has received much praise for its resemblance to classic Metroidvania games. Since recently launching on iOS and Android, Bloodstained has long been awaiting the final planned updates for the year. With more on the way as shown in the roadmap for the title, the updates have been quite substantial. Receiving extra playable characters and even a boss rush mode, ArtPlay Games plans to continue that support. Originally planned to launch at the end of this year, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is adding a classic mode in January 2021.

Classic Mode brings back old-school gameplay as you fight through five levels of demons and challenge Gebel's deadly bosses.

What’s Getting Added in Bloodstained’s Next Update?

In the short little clip, we get to see Miriam hopping and whipping her way through the underside of the castle. With a familiar user interface to other Castlevania titles, the planned Classic Mode is a blast from the past for many fans of the genre. Following in the footsteps of their predecessor title, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, the gameplay resembles it quite heavily. With a stiff and steady approach, the update takes players to a few bosses from the base game. As a free update to the title, the mode will be available to all players, on all available platforms. Despite the mode getting delayed to another month, the upcoming addition will be a great little add-on for another journey through the castle. Currently, the title is available on most mobile platforms, PSN and the Xbox Marketplace with the Steam version currently on a 66% off sale for only $16.
