Gearbox Software is gearing up for the launch of Borderlands 3, which is set to release this Friday. The five-year absence from this beloved looter-shooter has gotten fans itching for the imminent release, snatching up any details they can find. So, with the review embargo lifted, fans can get the impressions of critics and tease out other bits of information.
Now, IGN has shared with us a rough idea of how long it will take to beat Borderlands 3. We finally have an answer as to the game’s length! Of course, it all depends on your play style.
How Long Will It Take to Beat Borderlands 3?
In the aforementioned IGN article, they asked two of their staff members (who had already beaten the game) how many hours they had played.
First up is the guy who reviewed the game, James Duggan:
“At a brisk pace, it took me just over 30 hours to beat Borderlands 3’s campaign and the vast majority of its story content. Keep in mind that at some point during the review process I consciously stopped exploring in order to make sure the review went up on time, so I expect that this figure will be just under most people’s average playthrough…”
He goes on to talk about how he has other parts of the game he wants to invest his time into and how he will be creating another character, come launch.
Next up is Brian Malkiewicz, saying:
“As I blasted through Borderlands 3, it felt like the campaign itself just kept going and going. I mean that a good way, of course – there’s a ton of content here. By the time the credits rolled in my playthrough, the in-game playtime tracker displayed 40-plus hours… I wouldn’t be surprised if my total playtime reaches more than a hundred hours by the time Borderlands 3’s scheduled DLCs begin to arrive this Fall.”
So, it all depends on your approach to the game. Want to just plow through the campaign? Bit of a completionist? Your total playtime varies depending on that single aspect.
Either way, if you’re looking to get the game and have a blast, Borderlands 3 launches September 13th, 2019.
