A New Hampshire cat has won over the internet after a video appeared to show it fearlessly standing its ground against a black bear on a forest driveway. The remarkable encounter, which was shared on TikTok before spreading to Reddit, left thousands of viewers amazed as the much smaller feline appeared to send the wandering bear on its way.
The video comes from statbeauty_michelle on TikTok, who has a modest following on the platform. Her latest upload, however, has exploded in popularity, racking up more than 14 million views and even attracting a comment from PETA.
In the clip, a black-and-gray cat can be seen standing its ground as a black bear approaches. With its fur fluffed up to make itself appear larger, the fearless feline refuses to back down. As the encounter unfolds, one person who is watching inside of a vehicle asks, “What the hell is the cat doing?” Someone else off camera calmly replies, “It’s fending it off. The cat’s standing its ground.”
As the bear inches closer, one onlooker says, “Well, I hope we don’t witness this cat getting murdered. See the bear paw at it?” The bear can be seen reaching out and swiping at the cat with its paw.
