A California man walked into a 7-Eleven after making a drink purchase to let them know he received too little change. He wasn’t expecting what happened next. The cashier, upset with his accusations, called police to deal with the matter instead of giving him his change.
Kevin (@user062791634) shows the moment he asked for his correct change after he received less after buying a drink. He was at his local 7-Eleven when the incident happened and didn’t think it was a big deal. But the cashier had other thoughts and didn’t react well to his “accusation” that she “shortchanged” him. She immediately called police to deal with the matter as things spiraled out of control.
In Kevin’s initial video, he shows the cashier speaking with police as Kevin calmly speaks with her in the background. He tries to explain that he gave her a $20 bill and she didn’t give him enough change. But the cashier responds with anger, telling police he’s “yelling” at her even though he didn’t raise his voice.
The cashier tells police that she can’t find his transaction, which is likely due to the fact that he paid with cash. He stands and waits to see if she can find it. Then, the cashier disrespectfully tells police, “Now the idiot’s recording me!” She tells police that he’s “Hispanic” and in his 20s. Kevin laughs, clearly done with the interaction. He tells her that he needs to go to work and gives his name to her so police can find him and speak with him.
In an update video, Kevin shows the 7-Eleven worker walking away from him in the parking lot. He claims that she came out and recorded his vehicle, even telling him she was going to allegedly “call ICE” on him. According to him, all this started over the fact that she only gave him a portion of his change back when he paid with a $20 bill for an energy drink.
The video immediately sparked reactions from concerned commenters. One commenter simply asked, “Why was the drink 8 dollars?” Another commenter replied, “Because she’s most likely pocketing money from the till. Why wouldn’t she give him a receipt? I’m not sure about anyone else in here but I always get a receipt at 7-Eleven or at least they will ask me if I want my receipt.”
Another commenter came in with a good suggestion as they urged, “Pull the camera footage from the store and see how much change she gave you.” Another commenter suggested, “Always ask for a receipt, always!!
