California actor and comedian Rob Schneider is being dragged online after editing singer Finneas’ pro-Palestine statement to show support for Israel instead.
Finneas, who is also Billie Eilish’s brother, recently announced that he would withdraw from his upcoming dates on Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour following Macklemore’s removal from the tour over his outspoken support for Palestine. In a statement shared on social media, Finneas said he opposed artists being silenced for speaking out about oppression and expressed his support for Palestinians. “Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed. I have decided to withdraw from my upcoming tour dates with Ed Sheeran. I stand with Palestine and its people,” he wrote.
While Finneas received support for his statement, Rob Schneider is facing criticism for editing it. Schneider shared a picture of the statement on X but replaced “Palestine” with “Israel” to make it express support for Israel instead. This made the sentence read, “I stand with Israel and its people.” Schneider further crossed out Finneas’ name and replaced it with his own.
