A woman in California is being accused of tailgating and attacking a veteran during a road rage incident.

According to Rochester First, the incident took place on Wilson Avenue in Vallejo, California. The victim, identified as veteran Joseph Vallely, said he was driving at the posted speed limit of 30 miles per hour when he noticed the woman behind him becoming increasingly aggressive. He alleged that she began tailgating his vehicle for about one mile.

“She was flipping me off. She was holding her middle finger in the window,” Vallely said. He then added, “She was extremely close to the bumper of my vehicle.” He also stated that he believed the woman’s aggressive behavior was triggered by his decision to follow the speed limit while driving.

The situation escalated after the woman managed to get in front of Vallely’s vehicle and brake-checked him. A video of the incident circulating online shows what happened next. In the footage, the woman exits her car and approaches Vallely’s driver’s side window, which was slightly open. She can be heard saying, “You scared? You should be scared, [expletive].” She then sprayed him with a chemical substance during the confrontation.

Following the attack, Vallely can be heard reacting in pain and cursing after being exposed to the chemical substance. The video ends with him appearing to have a tube near or connected to his eyes, which viewers interpreted as part of medical treatment or emergency care following the incident.

Vallely told Rochester First that he was frightened during the incident. “Yeah — I was scared. That’s not something that’s normal,” he said. He also addressed the woman involved, adding, “I think it’s a deplorable act. Honestly, I think it’s terrible. And, if this message were to reach the lady, I would just ask her to turn herself in.” Authorities have stated that no arrest has been made so far, but a person of interest has been identified in connection with the case.

More people expressed outrage over the incident. One person wrote, “people like that lady do not deserve a place in society to live, breathe, learn, eat, sleep, or otherwise exist. A tombstone is too much remembrance.” Another person commented on the woman’s race and said, “Nothing will be done to her. She is of the privileged race that get away with anything they want.”

As the video continues to circulate online, viewers have been discussing how road rage incidents can quickly escalate and lead to serious consequences. At this time, internet users are waiting to see whether the woman involved in the incident in Vallejo, California will be apprehended as the investigation develops.
