A woman in Los Angeles, California, booked a wedding venue expecting the most important day of her life to take place in an elegant, white-painted place. Horrified, she soon found out that the white paint was no more. In its place, a colorful mural filled with sailboats and astronauts remained, and, apparently, she won’t get her money back.

The wedding venue debacle was shared on TikTok by Mariah Craig. Originally from Toronto, Canada, she now lives in Los Angeles, and she usually shares lifestyle content, sometimes with her fiancé. The clip attached above became her biggest ever, garnering 452,700 views, 40,200 likes, and more than 1,751 comments.

The California woman shared how she came across her wedding venue of dreams, with some viewers identifying it as the Gravity Terrace, located at the TRS Coral Hotel in Costa Mujeres, Mexico. She was originally drawn to this premium location by its “timeless, elegant, all white” aesthetic, and Mariah shared the photos that led to her booking.

Astronauts And Sailboats

However, things changed pretty fast. Without any heads-up through email or phone call, Mariah learned that the venue had changed. She was alerted by another bride who posted a recent photo of the venue’s mural. Instead of white paint, the mural now featured orange, blue, and purple shades, with sailboats and astronauts painted on top.

Of course, that wasn’t the venue she had paid a premium fee to book, so she started to look deep into the issue. Turns out, there were more upset brides who were not fond of having their wedding venue’s aesthetic completely changed from one day to the next.

Still, she tried to contact the venue to receive some answers. For about seven to eight days, she got no response. Other brides did, but what they were told was discouraging, to say the least.

“Those who had heard back were being told no refund, no compensation,” the California woman said. “And apparently, if we don’t like it, we can pay to drape it ourselves.”

Reactions

The astronauts-meet-sailboats makeover sparked multiple responses, mostly from viewers who were as upset as her. One said, “It’s giving Coachella brand deal sections.” Another one commented, “Whoever chose that mural is diabolical.”

Others believed Mariah should escalate the situation. One wrote, “Chargeback for false advertising.” Another one added, “False advertising. Do a class action lawsuit.” A third one said, “I would be looking at your contract. Because this seems like a breach of contract.”

According to Mariah, she is now looking to start a petition and gather brides’ signatures and wedding IDs. She will post an update once the wedding venue makes it right. It is unclear if they will.
