We are all used to seeing things around the state each year, especially when it comes to weather patterns or natural events. Yet, when some of them don’t happen, it means something could be wrong. Lately, several residents in Michigan have started noticing a lack of bees around the state. Some have reported seeing them in smaller quantities, while some have even said they haven’t seen one throughout the year. Naturally, this has scared many citizens, as they believe global warming is changing the environment in a dangerous way.

Are you noticing less bees in your garden this year?

Reddit user ReclusiveLegion posted the alarming thread on Michigan’s subreddit; in it, they ask if anyone else has noticed fewer bees in everyone’s garden, and, well, the answer was as concerning as many of us thought.

Several people started talking about how they have, indeed, seen fewer bees this year. Some have said they are still seeing some in their gardens, but others have reported they haven’t seen anything at all.

What makes the whole thing even more alarming is the fact that this isn’t just happening in one city in Michigan, but in many. Reports come from Thunder Bay, south of Traverse City, Southeast Michigan, and so on.

Yet, among the alarming events, there are a few silver linings, as some near Grand Rapids have reported they are full of bees, which is a good sign, at least for some areas in the state. Still, and as many have already pointed out, the fact that the number of bees has decreased this year is cause for concern, and people are now wondering about what might be causing this, with one culprit standing out more than others.

Michigan Residents Worried About Global Warming Causing Irreversible Damage

With so many worried citizens, some started looking for the culprit, and it seems global warming is the one many blamed most.

“It’s global warming. We’re fundamentally altering the environment to our detriment.“

On the other hand, a few think that it might have been the infamous ice storm that hit the state.

“While I agree with you, what I’m seeing is a drastic change, and I think it could be ice storm-related.“

“The ice storm was also at least partly caused by climate change.“

Regardless of the reason, people are worried about what may transpire in the future if the number of bees keeps decreasing, and by the looks of it, that’s what may continue to happen.
