Call of Duty: MW3 Teases Another Zombies-Related Season Without Considering Zombies

Why having Zombies mode in MW3 anyways

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

As time crawls toward Halloween, Call of Duty is bringing us the Haunting event with the final Season 6 of MW3. As usual, we have the dark theme of horror shadowing the whole Call of Duty HQ, featuring zombies in Warzone and undead game modes in the MW3 Multiplayer. MWZ? Come on, who are we kidding?

MW3 is the first ever Modern Warfare game that puts John “Soap” MacTavish in a supernatural narrative of fighting Dark Aether creatures. This doesn’t make any sense from the start, but the story was coming together in the cutscenes we saw in the first Season of the game.

The game mode was fresh, a fully open-world Zombies experience that doesn’t have the limitations of the Outbreak from Black Ops Cold War. MWZ could be the perfect mode to change the mood positively for the Zombies community. Instead, we got the least content for it throughout the year, and every time that there’s a zombies-related event going on in the game, MW3 Zombies remains untouched.

First, we had MW3 Season 2 with The Walking Dead crossover event. Even the name “Walking Dead” suggests that there should be at least something special going on in a game mode that’s called “Zombies.” But what did we get? Nothing. The same is happening in Season 6.

Call of Duty is doing a great job turning off the lights in Vondel and Rebirth Island for a horrific and super fun experience that we’re about to have in Warzone/MW3 Season 6. But that leaves absolutely nothing for the Zombies mode.

All you get as a Call of Duty Zombies fan is that your service for solving easter eggs is no longer needed, and you can enter any of the Dark Aether rifts with no leg work in MWZ Season 6. To me, this feels like I’ve been betrayed by Call of Duty. I love this franchise, and I’ve bought every single title of it; good and bad. But why is it so resentful to not include a single event or extra map for MW3 Zombies while we have tons of Multiplayer maps with the Zombies aesthetics in the Multiplayer? What is going on?

MW3 Zombies was dead as soon as Season 2. But the bee in my ear that bothers me so much is that there are lots of missed opportunities for MWZ while all the extra work for “Zombies” is spent on Multiplayer and Warzone.

Amir is an absolute Call of Duty nerd, preferring shooter games more than everything. However, he does like to do uppercuts in Mortal Kombat and feel the NOS going through the engines in Need For Speed games.
