Want to know if Xerneas can be Shiny in Pokemon Go? Although Legendary Pokemon have long ceased to be something special for Pokemon Go players, no one will refuse to get a new shiny Pokemon. And luckily, August 2023 offers a ton of opportunities. Some have been looking forward to the return of Cresselia to the raid halls, while others are doing their best to get their hands on the Mega Rayquaza. However, if you are a fan of the Kalos region, now is the best time to start hunting. Indeed, besides the long-awaited Zygarde, available to any player, Xerneas has returned to the raid halls. But can Xerneas be shiny in Pokemon Go? Here you will find the answer.

Can You Catch Shiny Xerneas in Pokemon Go

Luckily for fans of the Kalos region’s legendary trio, the answer is Yes, Xerneas can be Shiny in Pokemon Go. But the appearance of a unique version of this Pokemon happened relatively recently. Xerneas first arrived in the Pokemon Go game world on May 4, 2021, and a year and a half later, on October 8, 2022, this Pokemon received a unique shiny version. Not every player could get a Shiny version of this Pokemon during this period because it appeared in 5-star raid halls only once in October 2022. But now is your best opportunity to try your luck and add it to your collection.

From August 16 to August 23, 2023, Xerneas and Yveltal will be regular participants in 5-star raids, and each player can get them in their collection. In addition, on August 16 from 6 to 7 PM Local Time, you can participate in the Xerneas Raid Hour. All gyms in the city will turn into Xerneas Raid Gyms, and you will have a whole hour to defeat as many Xerneas as possible and find Shiny.

The chance of getting a Shiny Legendary Pokemon in a Raid Gym is about 1/20, but you’ll have to defeat it first. As a Fairy-type Pokemon, Xerneas is weak against Poison and Steel-type attacks, and any Pokemon with the correct movesets will be effective. But here are some of the best counters to beat Xerneas:

  • Metagross: Bullet Punch, Meteor Mash.
  • Zacian: Metal Claw, Iron Head.
  • Dialga: Metal Claw, Iron Head.
  • Roserade: Poison Jab, Sludge Bomb.
  • Nihilego: Acid, Sludge Bomb.
  • Genesect: Metal Claw, Magnet Bomb.
