A Pennsylvania Dollar General confrontation is gaining attention online after a viral video appeared to show a customer aggressively challenging two people inside the store, as a man involved in the exchange can be heard saying, “Put ’em up.” It’s unclear what sparked the exchange, but the video suggests the confrontation may have started after a dispute at the checkout line.
The incident reportedly takes place in a queue at a Dollar Tree store in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, and appears to have been filmed by a customer standing in line behind the men. A man in a blue hoodie and blue cap can be heard saying something under his breath that sounds like, “’Cause of [expletive] broads, you piece of [expletive].” The man behind him in the queue can be seen shaking his head while nudging his basket of groceries along the ground. Loud music playing in the store makes some of the audio difficult to distinguish. A security guard can also be seen standing in the queue during the incident but does not appear to intervene.
The second man in line then confronts the other individual, saying, “Now my daughter’s behind me. Do you mind, dude?” However, the other man does not appear to respond calmly, and can be heard shouting, “I don’t give a [expletive]. You [expletive] piece of [expletive].” The confrontation then begins to escalate.
The two men then become embroiled in a heated exchange, hurling insults at one another before both appear to raise their fists as if preparing to fight. One man can be heard saying, “Put ’em up. Let’s go. I’m gonna swing. Put ’em up,” as bystanders call for them to stop. Another man, wearing a white hoodie, then moves into the frame and appears to address the situation as tensions continue inside the store.
The man in the white hoodie can be heard using an offensive slur toward both men. In response, when the other man tells him, “Get the [expletive] home,” he drops his shopping and appears to square up to the first man, further escalating the confrontation inside the store. The two men then appear to intimidate the first man, with one of the individuals saying, “You wanna fight us both?”
After several heated threats from both men, one of them begins to back off, though not before exchanging further insults. The woman recording can be heard asking a store clerk not to serve the man who initiated the confrontation, claiming he had been using racist slurs “for no reason.” The store clerk then intervenes and tells the man he needs to “walk off and come back” to allow the line to continue. The man then appears to shout a racial slur at another customer before storming out of the store.
