Since the initial conversation began to cast Chris Pratt to voice the adored video game icon, Mario, they’d been met with criticism from fans. The actor promised the movie would do the classic Nintendo franchise justice. We can trust him, right? Since the beginning, Chris Pratt in Mario Movie sounded pretty awkward if you ask us.
Can Chris Pratt Do Justice To Super Mario’s Legacy?
In a recent interview with ExtraTV, Pratt had some words to share: “You know. Come watch the movie. Go watch the movie, and then we can talk. I really think that once you’ve seen the movie–you know what, in all honesty, I think you probably need to watch it twice.”
Where Pratt has been trying to calm the stirring fans in regard to the upcoming Super Mario Movie, Seth Rogen has been quite defensive about his performance as Donkey Kong in the film. He also doesn’t deny the remarks about the character sounding like him. Rogen made it clear that he doesn’t do voices, but if they need the character to sound like him, he’s the guy.
Aside from all the drama from the cast members, the ‘Parks and Recreation’ actor considers this movie the beginning of some new and exciting string of movies related to this universe. He considers the sentiments of fans as something that was expected of them as it is a super nostalgic game loved by many.
He also considers this project the best voice work he has done and feels “really proud” of it too. Apart from the Brooklyn accent, he hinted that this is “unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario World before.” We’ll just really have to wait and see now, no?
