Chrissy Teigen isn’t afraid to fight back against internet trolls. The model and her husband John Legend is active on X and Instagram. While social media is used to promote their projects, the couple also posts photos of their four children. Like many celebrities, Teigen is prone to online hate. So when a commenter recently posted a rude remark about Teigen, she was ready with a quick comeback.
Chrissy Teigen Responds to Criticism Saying She’s Using Kids to Stay Famous
Teigen’s latest run-in with an internet troll began on Monday, April 15. Legend shared a post celebrating their eldest daughter Luna’s 8th birthday. While many fans left birthday wishes, one commenter had unflattering words for the couple. “Always trying to stay relevant by talking and keep on having kids. No one cares,” the user wrote.
It didn’t take long for Teigen to respond to the comment. “Yes very bored and need attention, and there is no other way in the world to get it than having kids,” the cookbook author wrote.
Teigen has a long history of being outspoken on social media. Aside from responding to online haters, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model is vocal about politics and other Hollywood celebrities. But sometimes her outspokenness gets her into trouble.
In May 2021, model Courtney Stodden accused Teigen of cyberbullying her when she was a teenager. Stodden gained infamy at the age of 16 when she married her ex-husband, 51 year-old actor Doug Hutchison. During her marriage, Stodden received online harassment from Teigen. A series of old tweets and private messages showed Teigen implying she wished Stodden was dead.
Teigen received backlash, and later tweeted an apology.
Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past bull***t in front of the entire world. I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention seeking troll. I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel.
Three months after the scandal, Teigen appeared on The Today Show to discuss how it changed her life.
Having this period of time to digest it all and to look back and to realize that honestly there is always so much time to grow and to learn and to become more empathetic. I look at my kids, and I look at what I want their values to be and how I want them to treat people. And to see that in myself that I wasn’t doing that was the hardest part…realizing, ‘My goodness, this really had an effect on people.’
Teigen’s come a long way since then, and she’s handling herself well when dealing with internet critics.
