Civilization 6, the upcoming installment in one of the most influential game series of all time, releases in less than a month. Just in time for the game’s release, developer Firaxis Games has released the system requirements so gamers can see if their rig is up to the task. The requirements are not particularly crazy, but if you’ve played a Civilization game before, you know that the game can start to chug when you hit those later turns. Here’s what you’ll need to play Civilization 6.
Minimum:
OS: Windows 7 64bit / 8.1 64bit / 10 64bit
PROCESSOR: Intel Core i3 2.5 GHz or AMD Phenom II 2.6 GHz or greater
MEMORY: 4 GB RAM
HARD DRIVE: 12 GB or more
DVD-ROM: Required for disc-based installation
VIDEO CARD: 1 GB DirectX 11 Video Card (AMD 5570 or nVidia 450)
Recommended:
OS: Windows 7 64bit / 8.1 64bit / 10 64bit
PROCESSOR: Fourth generation Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz or AMD FX8350 4.0 Ghz or greater
MEMORY: 8 GB RAM
HARD DRIVE: 12 GB or more
DVD-ROM: Required for disc-based installation
VIDEO CARD: 2 GB DirectX 11 Video Card (AMD 7970 or nVidia 770 or greater)
Not too shabby.
Those who pre-order Civilization 6 will receive the Montezuma and the Aztec civilization early, although all players will have access to them after 90 days. The game will feature the class, tried and true strategy formula it is known for but is bringing a few new wrinkles inspired by other successful grand strategy games. Cities will sprawl as improvements spill outside the hex, new systems are in place in order to make all paths to victory viable, and some units can now be stacked in order to make even more intimidating armies.
