Civilization VI will be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 22nd. Not only can you play the main game on the big screen, but it includes free and paid DLC content.
The turn-based strategy game first released on the PC and Mac over three years ago, and since then has had a lot of content updates. Two expansions have increased the scope of the game, and additional updates added new features and civilizations to play as.
The goal of the Civilization games seems like a simple one: guide your civilization to becoming a world power. Either through force, diplomacy or technological dominance, Civilization allows for a number of different ways to play.
This will not be Civilization VI’s first rodeo on a console, as it launched on Nintendo Switch on November 2018. One interesting aspect of the Switch port is the cross-save between the Switch and Steam versions. There is no confirmation if that feature will carry over to the other upcoming console versions.
What You Can Expect
The PS4 and Xbox One base-game versions are priced at $60. The Expansion Bundle, which features the Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm expansion packs, will be $50 at launch. The Expansion Bundle will also be coming to the Switch as well.
The base versions of the PS4 and Xbox One also come with some additional content for free. In addition to new features and updates, those versions will have four more content packs:
Vikings Scenario Pack
Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack
Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack
Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack
Players on PS4 will benefit from additional free content with the Free Nubia Civilization & Scenario Pack and Khmer and Indonesia Civilization & Scenario Pack content packs. These packs are available on the other console versions but must be purchased as separate DLC.
