This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

If you’re a fan of the Crash Bandicoot franchise, then today isn’t a shiny one for you. Following the recent layoffs on Activision Blizzard’s staff-firing movie series, the developer of Crash Bandicoot 4 and Crash Bandicoot: Team Rumble, Toys for Bob, has announced its departure from Activision. The team behind the recent Crash Bandicoot entries has said that it’s spinning off the big picture, only to become a smaller indie studio. Toys for Bob is currently working on a new game of its own, which has nothing to do with Microsoft or Activision.

What Happens To Crash Bandicoot?

The new working ground of Toys for Bob is completely independent, as the IP rights for Crash Bandicoot stay with Activision. This news is right after the announcement of the studio’s staff layoffs, leaving over 80 people behind to make the team smaller.

Now, with Toys for Bob out of the picture, what happens to Crash Bandicoot? Of course, Activision will now have to wait for a long while until they can make another game in the series. But the point is that Toys for Bob has also helped with delivering content for Call of Duty: Warzone. And that means the upcoming seasons of Warzone might just have fewer fortes to offer.

The news is also a hit on another one of the famous Toys for Bob game series, Skylanders. Leaving Activision and Microsoft as their game publishers, Toys for Bob also has to leave Spyro behind if it wants to develop its own indie titles.

The former Crash Bandicoot developer is currently working independently, not shaking hands with Microsoft or PlayStation, at least for now. Crash stays with Xbox, however, with an unknown fate. It’s noteworthy that Toys for Bob will no longer support the Crash Team Rumble online game. However, even after the departure of Crash Bandicoot developer from Activision, it is still “exploring a possible partnership” with Microsoft.

Amir is an absolute Call of Duty nerd, preferring shooter games more than everything. However, he does like to do uppercuts in Mortal Kombat and feel the NOS going through the engines in Need For Speed games.
