At this point, many of us have been eagerly waiting for Crysis Remastered for some time. Things may not have looked as glorious when the first trailer went out, but it’s still a game we were excited for. Unfortunately, we’ve been left in the dark for some time due to a delay following community backlash. Today though, that wait is finally over. Crytek announced on the official Crysis Twitter account that Crysis Remastered releases on September 18th. The game is coming to PC (Epic Games Store), PS4, and Xbox One. It’s also currently playable on Nintendo Switch and has been for some time. You can find a new trailer, showing off some beautifully revised textures below.

The long wait is almost over – it is Official!

Crysis Remastered is coming to your favorite gaming platforms on 18th September 2020.

The new trailer displays a few key things they’ve changed in the past few months (and that were already there). For one, lighting and assets have been updated to give the game a fresh look that feels more realistic. The jungles of the Lingshan Islands have never looked so beautiful, with 8K textures that show off the smaller details of objects. As well, water has been updated to look much more refined, crisp, and react better like waves. The original game did this well, but Crysis Remastered’s water looks much cleaner. To top it all off, ray traced reflections are included so lights reflect off wet surfaces and other places. These are all relatively small changes, but together go a lot way to make Crysis Remastered the best it can be.

No matter what you think of its PC store exclusivity, it’s hard to argue they haven’t been putting in work these past few months. The previous Crysis Remastered trailer didn’t exactly get universal praise, seeing as it appeared a very last remaster. Crytek heard the feedback though and improved upon the graphical overhaul immensely. That at least deserves some praise. It’s something seldom seen in this industry.

Those are only my thoughts though. What do you think of the updated Crysis Remastered? Will the announcement of store exclusivity turn you away from the game? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
