While waiting to be seated for lunch at a diner, a New York woman was suddenly harassed by another customer, who had to make it known she didn’t like the woman wearing a hijab. This resulted in an argument between the two, with the customer going on a racist tirade.
TikTok user Politicallypali, Pali, captured the customer’s unhinged bigotry. According to Pali, she was wearing a hijab, which the woman found offensive. The woman saw Pali’s hijab, looked her straight in the eye, and told her to “go home.”
When Pali confronts the woman on camera, she acts as if she has no idea what Pali is talking about. While she attempts to shame Pali for recording, Pali fires back, asking, “Why did you feel like you had to tell me to go home?” At this point, the woman’s husband corrals her out of the restaurant.
But Pali isn’t about to let her off that easily. She calls the woman a “racist piece of [expletive].” Her husband continues walking her out of the restaurant and closes the door on Pali. The two fight back and forth outside the diner. Eventually, the woman cracks and her true racism begins to shine through. She tells Pali, “You have no right to be in this country. Because you’re an American hater.”
At this point, the husband gets in Pali’s face and screams for her to “GO!” and leave them alone. He keeps pulling his wife toward the vehicle to avoid further confrontation, but the woman can’t help herself. She keeps telling Pali she’s “proud” of how she feels toward Pali and others who share her background. The entire time, Pali screams at the woman, calling her “racist” until the woman is in her vehicle with the door closed.
The reaction to Pali’s TikTok video
Unsurprisingly, Pali’s TikTok video had many viewers in support of her, calling the lady she encountered racist and bigoted. Some called for her and her husband to be fired from their jobs, while others praised Pali for standing up for herself.
“Him and her need to be fired from their jobs if they even work he think the same way she do,” one viewer wrote. Other commenters chimed in, joking that they probably don’t work anyway due to how “old and decrepit” they were.
Many called the couple out, especially the lady, for being racists in a myriad of ways. “MAGA will MAGA,” one commenter wrote. “Racists should NEVER feel comfortable EVER!!” said another.
In the caption of her video, Pali shared that her hijab “does not make me a stranger” and that she’ll never feel “ashamed” for who she is. In a closing remark, she thanked the diner for “not putting up with it.”
