With the end of the Season of the Deep quickly approaching, soon we’ll be jump into the start of Destiny 2‘s Season 22. It will include new weapons, a whole new story, and much more. Since the end of the Season of the Deep is on August 22nd, it only makes sense that the beginning of Season 22 will be on the same day. However, we’ll be expecting quite a few changes with the new season’s release. Let’s take a look at everything we know so far about Destiny 2: Season 22.

When Does Destiny 2 Season 22 Start?

With the end of Season 21 coming on August 22nd, right around the time of the Weekly Reset, the new Season 22 will begin on the same day. Additionally, on August 22nd, a new Bungie Showcase will go live, telling a bit more about what’s coming on Destiny 2.

Season 22 Story

Without giving away any major spoilers, the story in Season 22 will bring significant changes, end conflicts, and show a character in a new light. We expect that Season 22’s story and the following seasons will tie into The Final Shape, concluding the major storyline within the game.

New Additions in Season 22

As with most new seasons in Destiny 2, the game will have some new additions. According to Bungie’s TWID, we have the following things to look forward to:

  • Exotic Mission Rotator
  • Ability and Armor changes
  • Economy changes
  • PvP changes to respawning, competitive matchmaking, and more
  • New PvP map
  • Security changes

Season 22 Weapon Updates in Destiny 2

There will be significant changes to glaives, hand cannons, swords, and bows in the upcoming season. Hand Cannons will get a buff to reload speed and damage output. Swords will get what Bungie calls a “Substantial Rework,” and many Exotic weapons will be more balanced.

What’s Going On With Gambit?

According to recent Twitter posts from Destiny 2 devs, there isn’t going to be any real work put into Gambit anymore. That said, playing Gambit is going to be avoidable without any repercussions. PvPvE is going out of style in D2 and is becoming entirely optional.

Crucible Changes in Season 22

Plenty of upcoming changes will be made to the PvP game modes in Destiny 2. Crucible will be pretty different with a new map, new PvP mode, and new modifiers.

New Strand Aspects

The new Strand subclass will get new Aspects in Destiny 2‘s Season 22:

  • Weavewalk for Warlocks.
  • Whirling Maelstrom for Hunters.
  • Banner of War for Titans.

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
