If you picked the Spiritborn in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, you are now a stand user from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures and your stand is none other than your spirit animal. They’re practically the playstyles for the Spiritborn, with each spirit animal representing a certain path. This guide will help you get acquainted with the choices and how each of the spirit animals works for the Spiritborn’s spirit Hall mechanic in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred.
The Four Spirit Animals in D4: Vessel of Hatred
More might come in the future, but for now, you have four animal friends to channel as a Spiritborn in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred. Each one of them gives unique flavors and committing to one or combining several will drastically change your approach to combat.
In summary, here’s what each spirit animal represents:
Spirit Animal | Main/Featured Effects |
Eagle | Lightning damage, ranged attacks, and movement speed/mobility |
Gorilla | Physical damage, defense, and crowd-control |
Jaguar | Fire damage, damage buffs, and attack speed |
Centipede | Poison damage, regeneration, and debuffs |
Again, you can commit to one spirit or combine several though focusing on a maximum of two ensures that you don’t get confused with your skill bar. Moreover, certain spirits complement one another.
Centipede, for example, covers the Eagle or the Jaguar’s lack of defense and can amplify damage with its debuffs.
Spirit Hall Effects
Once you get to level 15 and level 30, you get to choose the Spiritborn’s Spirit Hall or Spirit Guardian. These will provide different and dramatic passive effects that further spice up your playstyle and allow you to create build variations.
They’re similar to Druid passives, but have more variations to them and have more visible and palpable effects. You can only pick one Primary for Level 15 and one Secondary for Level 30.
Level 15 Spirit Hall
Spirit Hall Choice | Passive Effect |
Jaguar | Every 15th time you deal direct damage to an enemy with a Jaguar Skill, unleash an additional strike dealing 15% of the damage you have dealt to them in the last 0.5 seconds. All Skills are now also Jaguar Skills. |
Eagle | Casting an Eagle Skill grants 4 seconds of the Storm Feathers Movement Speed bonus. When you Evade, fling up to 8 Storm Feathers for ever remaining second, each dealing X Lightning damage and making targets Vulnerable for 5 seconds. All Skills are now also Eagle Skills. |
Gorilla | Casting a Gorilla Skill deals 100% Thorns to enemies you hit and grants a Barrier for 5.0% of Maximum Life, up to 30% for 3 seconds. All Skills are now also Gorilla Skills. |
Centipede | Hitting an enemy with a Centipede Skill reduces their Damage by 2.5% and Slows them by 10% for 3 seconds, stacking up to a maximum of 8 times. All Skills are now also Centipede Skills. |
These choices are rather crucial since they also turn your skills into a specific Spirit Guardian type, further funneling you into that build or playstyle. Thankfully, you can swap them out any time.
Level 30 Spirit Hall
Spirit HallChoice | Passive Effect |
Jaguar | Maximum Ferocity increased by 1. Gain 1 stack of Ferocity whenever you kill an enemy or damage a Boss. |
Eagle | For every 4 meters you move, your Critical Strike Chance increases by 4%. This bonus is reset 2 seconds after you Critically Strike. |
Gorilla | Maximum Resolve increased by 2. When you have at least 5 stacks of Resolve, you are Unstoppable. |
Centipede | Heal 1% of your Maximum Life, for every Nearby enemy you’ve Poisoned in the last 3 seconds, up to 5%. |
Level 30 choices are sadly different and less dramatic compared to the Level 15 choices, but they still reinforce your chosen playstyle. Also, you can swap them out at any time for added versatility.
