Diablo 3, Blizzard’s wildly successful dungeon crawler, is celebrating its three year anniversary with a throwback for fans of Diablo 2: The Secret Cow Level. In Diablo 2 players were able to find a secret level full of bloodthirsty bovines, which could then be farmed and annihilated. Diablo 3 players will be able to relive this memory from May 15th through the 21st.
The event is only available for those playing the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the games. For those playing the Ultimate Evil Edition on PS3 and Xbox 360, there’s a gift for you as well: a 100 percent buff to exp and gold. For those able to participate in the secret level, in order to do so you must kill a randomly spawning Elite cow called Herald of the Queen. Upon the death of the Elite cow, a portal will open to a place called Not the Cow Level. Inside this level Radiant and Resplendent chests await players, as well as a Cow Queen and a special event.
Blizzard posted an appropriately pun-filled letter on the Diablo website announcing the event. A hidden video plays on the website when you click the face above the “Forums” tab, showcasing parts of the secret level, specifically the slaughter of bovine herds… and more puns.
Celebrate Diablo 3‘s birthday in style quickly before the level moo-ves out. Yeah that was a bad one.
