Meghan Markle‘s new Netflix series is already at the center of a big controversy and it hasn’t even dropped yet. Just a week before With Love, Meghan is set to hit the streaming platform on March 4, fans are criticizing the project for seemingly “copying” Pamela Anderson‘s new cooking show, Pamela’s Cooking With Love.
The Drama Between Meghan Markle and Pamela Anderson
Fans think there are too many similarities between Meghan Markle and Pamela Anderson’s shows for them to just be a coincidence. Apart from both projects having “with love” in the title, their trailers are accused of being nearly identical.
The preview for Pamela’s Cooking With Love shows the Baywatch star cooking alongside various special guests. Throughout the series, Anderson will invite different chefs to prepare a meal with her. On top of that, it appears the actress will share her love of gardening with viewers. In one clip, she’s seen walking outside in overalls while holding baskets full of fresh ingredients, hinting she’ll talk about the importance of health and sustainibility in cooking.
Interestingly, the teaser for With Love, Meghan, features a similar premise. During the video, the Duchess of Sussex is also seen cooking with different guests, ranging from top chefs to celebrities like Mindy Kaling. The show also promises to highlight the importance of growing your own food as Markle picks fresh ingredients outside. There are clips of her walking through a garden with a basket in hand, as well as one of her collecting her own honey.
Both trailers have similar aesthetics and overall vibes. However, that’s not the only thing that has fans talking. People have also pointed out that Meghan Markle and Pamela Anderson comment similarly about cooking. While Anderson says she enjoys taking meals “to another level,” Markle mentions finding pleasure in “taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it.”
Fans Rip Apart The Duchess’ Trailer
Pamela’s Cooking With Love just premiered on Food Network Canada on Monday, Feb. 24. Meanwhile, Markle’s Netflix show won’t hit streaming until next week. Since Anderson’s series came out first, fans have accused the Duchess of copying her.
“Why does this look so familiar… oh wait that’s because it’s a CHEAP KNOCKOFF of Pamela’s Cooking With Love!” read one YouTube comment about Markle’s Netflix series. “I will watch Pamela Anderson’s cooking show instead!” another person said.
With Love, Meghan isn’t the Duchess’ first project with Netflix. In 2022, she and Prince Harry debuted their documentary series, Harry & Meghan, centering around their relationship, on the streaming platform. Later that year, the couple joined forces for Live to Lead, which they executive produced. Since then, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have collaborated with Netflix again for Heart of Invictus and Polo. After working on several documentaries back to back, With Love, Meghan is the Duchess’ first lifetime series for the platform.
