New York rapper Sean Combs, better known as Diddy, has recently received an updated release date, sparking outrage among some internet users.

According to TMZ, Diddy’s release date has been moved up once again. The Federal Bureau of Prisons now lists Diddy’s projected release date as January 24, 2028, instead of the previously listed February 23, 2028. This is not the first time Diddy’s projected release date has been adjusted, as it has been moved up on previous occasions as well.

Combs is currently serving a federal prison sentence after being convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Prosecutors argued that he transported individuals across state lines for commercial sex acts connected to events known as “freak-offs.” He was acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion and racketeering conspiracy. His prison sentence stems from the prostitution related convictions. Separately, Diddy has denied allegations of sexual abuse made against him in numerous civil lawsuits, many of which remain unresolved and are separate from his criminal case.

TMZ reported that no reason has been disclosed for why Diddy’s projected release date continues to move up. The latest change comes after the rapper was reportedly placed in solitary confinement following an alleged physical altercation with another inmate at Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix.

According to multiple reports citing sources familiar with the incident, the confrontation began after another inmate allegedly made a disrespectful remark toward Diddy, leading to a brief fight before prison staff intervened and separated the two men. Despite the reported incident, it does not appear to have affected Diddy’s projected release date.

Public Outraged After New York Rapper Gets New Release Date

New York rapper Diddy’s updated release date sparked significant backlash online. Many commenters argued that he does not deserve to be released earlier, particularly because of the nature of his convictions. “Moved up again despite the fight. The release date keeps finding ways to get closer. He definitely shouldn’t see the light of the day again [expletive] nuts,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “So because of program participation, time served, and credits, his release date moves up. Crazy. Let him serve his full time and let all that stuff be for rehabilitation when he does get out.”

More people expressed outrage over Diddy’s updated release date. “Prison fight and still getting early release like the system has a soft spot. Dude’s in solitary and somehow the calendar still bends for him. At this point is the release date even real or just another promo?” one person wrote. Another commenter asked, “Why is he coming back in the population!”

Diddy’s updated projected release date added to the ongoing public debate surrounding his prison sentence and how federal release credits are applied. It also fueled criticism from many online commenters who believe he should serve his full sentence. As of now, it is unclear whether the Federal Bureau of Prisons will make any further changes to the rapper’s projected release date.
