This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

Kunemon is a yellow, eyeless caterpillar creature in Digimon Survive, the partner Digimon of one of the main characters named Ryo Tominaga. However, because of a specific, spoiler-filled reason, you won’t be able to see all of Kunemon Digivolutions in the main story of Digimon Survive. If you want to know more about Kunemon Digivolution line, how to unlock them all, and see if there’s an alternative for it during your playthrough, continue reading this Digimon Survive guide. As mentioned before, this guide will have a minor spoiler, you have been warned!

All Kunemon’s Digivolutions in Digimon Survive Main Story Mode

Digimon Survive: All Kunemon Digivolutions

In the story mode of Digimon Survive, Kunemon, who can’t speak, partners up with Ryo Tominaga, the coward of the group. However, in Part 3, both Ryo and Kunemon will be removed from your party permanently. This means you will never be able to see Kunemon’s Digivolutions in Digimon Survive, right?

Thankfully, this is where the New Game Plus system came in handy. Raise your Affinity Level to at least 30 with Ryo (by picking the proper dialogue options throughout the game) before Part 3 ends and Kunemon will be able to save Ryo. Kunemon will then Digivolve for the first time in Part 4 into Flymon. And then in Part 6, it will transform into JewelBeemon. And its last transformation is the cool-looking BanchoStingmon. Compared to most other Digimon, Kunemon has a straightforward Digivolution path and doesn’t branch out to other evolutions.

  • Kunemon
  • Champion: Flymon
  • Ultimate: JewelBeemon
  • Mega: BanchoStingmon (has 70 Affinity with Ryo)

Digimon Survive: All Kunemon Digivolutions

If you want to replace Ryo and Kunemon after they’re gone in Part 3, unfortunately, you cannot do that. While you can fight against a Kunemon in Free Battles, you cannot talk to them and Befriend them. However, Tentomon (which you can Befriend) does share a Digivolution line with Kunemon. Tentomon is a Vaccine-attribute Digimon and you’ll need Mature Enlightmen Slabs to Digivolve it:

Base Digimon Champion Ultimate Mega
Tentomon Okuwamon Kuwagamon GranKuwagamon
Kabuterimon MegaKabuterimon HerculesKabuterimon
Flymon JewelBeemon BanchoStingmon

If you want to recruit a Tentomon as a Kunemon replacement, then there are two ways to get it. First, recruit it during Part 7 by visiting the Shrine area in Free Action then examine the flower patch to your left to find an injured Tentomon. Pick “Come with us?” to invite it to your party. But this Tentomon will leave after Part 7 ends.

The second way is to Befriend one. During your second half of Free Action in Part 10, speak with Agumon to trigger an Event that lets you recruit Tentomon, Gomamon, and Palmon. These are the best answers when you Talk with it in Free Battles:

  • “I may not look it, but I have many tales of daring-do under my belt!”
    • Answer: “That sounds serious.”
  • “Isn’t it annoying when someone asks you for a funny story out of the blue?”
    • Answer: “Yeah, I totally bomb.”
  • “I wasn’t born yesterday, you know? You can’t fool me!”
    • Answer: “You have trust issues.”
  • “Things have gotten quite perilous around here lately.”
    • Answer: “Jerks better look out!”
  • “Nothing ever comes for free, wouldn’t you agree?”
    • Answer: “Exactly!”
  • “Well then, would you do the honor of revealing your impression of me?”
    • Answer: “You’re pretty smart.”
  • “Where’d you come from?”
    • Answer: “From far away.”
