The highly anticipated Disney+ Beauty and the Beast prequel series has been put on hold. Due to scheduling conflicts and creative element difficulties, the project has been put on the back burner. It was supposed to star Josh Gad and Luke Evans reprising their roles as LeFou and Gaston. Rita Ora was also announced as an addition to the cast. It was set to begin filming in the spring and then was changed to the summer in Europe to film in nice weather. The creative elements were not far enough along to go forward with the timeline, according to sources. Also, scheduling between actors, writers, directors, and location problems contributed. Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, and Josh Gad developed the Disney+ prequel series. Gad confirmed that the Beauty and the Beast prequel was put on hold.
Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, and Josh Gad’s Disney+ Prequel Series Will have to Wait
Disney has been wanting to create the Beauty and the Beast prequel series for a couple of years now. They didn’t quite have the right people, and it wasn’t the right time. It seems it’s still not the right time, but Disney+ does have the right people connected to the prequel series. Big names like Rita Ora, Josh Gad, Luke Evans, and Alan Menken are attached. Specifics have not been shared which actor’s schedules led to conflicts with production. Once Upon A Time creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, along with Josh Gad, will have to wait a little longer for the Disney+ prequel series to see the light of day. Since it’s in the early stages of the Beauty and the Beast prequel series being announced as being on hold, all the talent previously announced is still a go.
LeFou, played by Josh Gad, will just have to wait a little longer.
