Disney Dreamlight Valley released its first paid expansion back in December, and it’s got a whole new mystery to solve. The DLC, called A Rift in Time, brings players to Eternity Isle, where they can meet Eve, Rapunzel, Gaston, and Jafar, who enlists your help in recovering the Scarab Key to find the all-powerful Jewel of Time. The Jewel has long since been lost to the sands of the desert, but with a little puzzle-solving and some help from the other villagers, you manage to track it to the Cave of Wonders. But the mystery doesn’t stop now that you’ve found it – now you’ve got to get inside.
How to Find the Cave of Wonders in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To find the Cave of Wonders, you’re going to need the Scarab Key, which you’ve been finding in pieces over the course of A Rift in Time. The first piece is found with Gaston’s “help” in his quest “The Wanderer of the Dunes”, where you have to help him get his groove back. Rapunzel helps you find the second piece of the Scarab Key in “The Wild Tangle’s Swarm”, and you repair the Scarab Key under Jafar’s guidance in Gaston’s second quest, “Diamond in the Rough.”
Once the Scarab Key is repaired, it’ll start flying into the Glittering Dunes. Follow it into the Wastes, where it’ll come to a stop not far from Gaston’s house. Interact with the key, and a short cutscene will play where the Cave of Wonders rises from the sand very intimidatingly. Head inside (without Gaston, thankfully), and you’ll discover you’re not out of the woods yet – the Jewel of Time is being protected by two magical doors and a series of puzzles.
Disney Dreamlight Valley – Cave of Wonders Puzzle Guide
Immediately after entering the Cave of Wonders in Disney Dreamlight Valley, walk down the stairs and turn left. Clear the Splinters of Fate blocking your way and follow the path until you see a glowing blue Power Coil lying off to the side. Pick it up and place it in the nearby slot, then return to the main room.
Back in the main room, you’ll see a level to the right of the entrance. Pull the lever, and a beam of light will form and unlock the first door.
Go through the unlocked door and up the stairs into the next room, where you should see two paths, one leading to the left and the other leading to the right. Take the right path first and follow the path around to a new room, where you’ll find a full Power Coil, an empty Power Coil, and a puzzle covering the floor. The aim of the puzzle is to get the power from the full coil to the empty one by turning the circles on the floor in this order:
- Turn the circle closest to the full Power Coil once.
- Turn the circle on the upper right three times.
- Turn the circle to the right of the door twice.
- Turn the circle to the left of the door once.
- Turn the circle on the upper left twice.
With the puzzle completed, pick up the now-full Power Coil in the center of the floor and return to the main room to put it in the slot next to the door you just came out of.
Next, take the left path out of the main room and clear the Splinters of Fate as you go. The left path leads to a room with a mirror puzzle, and you’re going to want to pick up the Ancient Mirror you find lying on the floor nearby. Once you’ve picked that up, pull both of the levers you find in the room to produce a beam of light that bounces around the various mirrors in the room. Follow the light beam to where it ends, then put the Ancient Mirror there to make the light continue into the main room.
Back in the main room, follow the light beam to another lever and pull it to send the light toward the door and unlock it.
With the second door unlocked, pass through the magic portal and grab the Jewel of Time. You can use the nearby portal to exit the Cave of Wonders and return to the Wastes and continue Jafar’s quest, “Your Eternal Reward”, which is going to take you through the Borderlands and right up to the doors of Jafar’s palace to meet the sorcerer himself.
