When it was announced that The Mighty Ducks would be making a return to Disney + an entire generation of adults collectively cried with joy, the 90s movies managed to make the whole world interested in Ice Hockey, and they still hold a special place in the hearts of many.
The upcoming Disney + version will continue the story, but this time as a Television series entitled The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. The title is no lie either; a lot has changed.
The Mighty Ducks are now powerhouses in their junior division and have changed into a ruthless team that is very selective when it comes to players. In Game Changers, 12-year-old Evan hasn’t made the cut and has been kicked out. The only thing left to do is form a new team with the help of original Might Ducks coach Gordon Bombay, who is once again played by the returning Emilio Estevez.
Quite frankly, it all sounds great, and today Disney has released a trailer to get fans excited and announce the release date.
As you can see from the trailer, there’s not too long to wait as The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will release on Disney + on March 26th. It’s not known if this will be all at once or weekly, but I’d suspect the latter if previous Disney + shows are anything to go by.
The first season will also feature 10 episodes meaning there is plenty more fun to be had in The Mighty Ducks world, and I can’t wait.
We’ll bring you more when we can and will give you our thoughts when the series drops. In the meantime, be sure to let us know how excited you are about the return of a classic and what other long lost films you’d like to see a return with a modern TV format.
The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will release exclusively on Disney + from March 26, 2021.
