Next year, Disney characters will once again adorn the covers of Marvel comics in new Disney What If variants. Mickey and friends are here to help Marvel celebrate the 60th anniversaries of two of its biggest properties: Avengers and X-Men. So, classic characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, and Goofy are playing dress up as your favorite heroes. They will replace Marvel heroes in milestone moments from the Avengers and X-Men’s 60 years. This monthly variant program will adorn select issues of Amazing Spider-Man in 2024.

Disney What If Variants

These Disney What If variants will release monthly throughout the next year. There will be 12 covers in total, one for each month. They will grace the cover of select issues of Amazing Spider-Man. Plus, the covers will be available in black and white to give you that retro comic feel.

These Disney What If variants see Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and more stepping into iconic moments from Avengers and X-Men history. The first three variants bring readers back to the Silver Age with an homage to the first appearance of the Avengers and X-Men. Classic Disney characters bring to life the covers of Avengers #1 and X-Men #1 from 1963. Additionally, Peg Leg Pete joins the fun as Loki and Magneto on each cover.

Next, Mickey and the gang take on the iconic Avengers #16, where Captain America leads a new group of Avengers, including Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

Match Made In Cartoon Heaven

This isn’t the first time that Disney characters have popped up on the covers of Marvel comics. This past year, Marvel was part of Disney’s 100th anniversary celebration with the Disney100 variant covers. These, like the Disney What If variants, showcased Mickey and friends cosplaying iconic Marvel moments.

Make sure to catch the first three of these Disney What If variants adorning Amazing Spider-Man #41 (1/3), #43 (2/14), and #45 (3/6).
