‘Do You Have No Moral Compass?’: Elizabeth Warren Draws Backlash After Endorsing Michigan Senate Candidate Abdul El-Sayed

Some netizens are not having it

United States Sen. Elizabeth Warren is urging voters to support Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed in his bid for office. Warren announced her endorsement in a one-minute video posted to X on Monday, where she described the Democratic candidate as “the fighter” the state needs.

Although she explained why she was throwing her support behind El-Sayed, many social media users pushed back, saying both Warren and the Democratic Party are backing the wrong candidate.

In the video, Warren described El-Sayed as the “only candidate” running a grassroots-funded campaign and said he is committed to ending the influence of corporate cash in politics. She also praised his background, noting that he is a doctor, a card-carrying union member, and has earned the endorsement of the United Auto Workers for championing working-class Americans.

“[El-Sayed] is fighting for every single American to have affordable, high quality healthcare,” Warren stated. She added, “He is the fighter Michigan needs in the Senate. Michiganders deserve a senator who will fight for you, not for special interests.”

Within hours of the video being uploaded, many netizens hit back at the senator’s endorsement. Some said they were unconvinced by Warren’s judgment considering her past record. “If you are supporting him then we know it is a BAD choice,” one X user wrote. Another commented, “This lady does not look into who she endorses.” A third remarked, “Everything that comes out of your mouth is ridiculous.”

Someone else left a very critical comment, writing, “Do you have no moral compass? It was one thing to endorse an alleged rapist in Maine and now a Hamas loving anti American racist? Wow, you and your communist party have reached a new low!!”

Others also took aim at the Democratic Party as a whole. “So it seems Democrats everywhere are advocating for the fall of Western civilization,” one person claimed. Another asked, “Michigan has been ruined by Democrats. Why would ANYONE vote for that organization again?”

Warren’s endorsement of El-Sayed is not the first time her political support has generated controversy. Earlier this year, she faced similar backlash when she endorsed former Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, who became embroiled in multiple controversies, including allegations that he assaulted a former partner.

Warren reportedly later withdrew her endorsement, and Platner dropped out of the race earlier this month.
