Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is one of the most successful Warhammer 40K games in recent memory but it’s not without its rough spots. The game has its fair share of typical problems, but a few things that stand out are its quality-of-life features, prompting many players to ask whether Space Marine 2 has an FOV (field-of-view) slider or ultrawide monitor support.
The bad news is that Space Marine 2 — at the time of writing, does not have an FOV Slider and also has no ultrawide support. Such is the case for all platforms. You can still use monitors that are wider than the typical 16:9 or 16:10 ratio, but it will look off, unfortunately. Moreover, the general gameplay can feel rather claustrophobic due to the close and narrow FOV.
Some Improvements Are on the Way
The good news is that this lack of basic QOL features for a shooter game isn’t permanent. The developer has laid out its live service and seasonal roadmap for Space Marine 2. Among its immediate fixes would be added ultrawide support coming sometime around September 2024.
So you might want to hold off on refunding if the lack of ultrawide support is a dealbreaker for you. It’s also a free update so you don’t need to worry about anything.
Sadly, there’s still no news on the much-needed FOV slider (at the time of writing). For now, you’re stuck with nearly half your screen being blocked by a hulking Astartes. It doesn’t help that most of the enemies in the game are melee combatants and can swarm you, further blocking your view.
What you can do, however, is to file some support tickets or suggestions in the official forums or the X account. It’s not exactly far-fetched to expect the developer to add an FOV slider. Do note that the game is already graphically demanding as it is. An FOV slider might slightly worsen performance since your gaming device will have to render a larger image.
