Troy Barnes and the gang are one step closer to coming to the big screen. Donald Glover has given an update on the Community movie as he confirms the script has been completed. When production begins, it will reunite the Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith star with his co-stars and Dan Harmon, the creator of the popular NBC comedy.
The star has not read the completed script yet. It has been nearly a decade since the end of the series. The gap has given fans and the cast anxious excitement to complete the promise of going six seasons and a movie.
Donald Glover Talks About the Script for the Community Movie
At the premiere of his spy Amazon series, Donald Glover spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the Community movie. In a timely manner, that day, he was “texting” and “was told that the script was done.” He confirmed he was “all in” for the project but admitted that scheduling would be difficult.
Since the end of the series, its cast and creator have gone on to do bigger things. The Atlanta creator and rapper will have the hardest time finding the time to shoot the film. Echoing the scheduling difficulties was Ken Jeong when he went on the Tonight Show to talk about how he and his co-stars, including “Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash — who is an Oscar winner,” have all been busy. He specifically mentioned the Lando actor as “the biggest star in the world,” which was not a far-off comment to make when looking at his recent major projects and lucrative deal with Prime Video.
No production date or release window has been announced for when we will see Donald Glover and the crew back at it for the Community movie. The last major update was that it would be available on Peacock.
