Today, we got a huge surprise as many new details about Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 have come to light. As many of you already know, the game was unveiled not long ago, which excited several players, as many have been looking forward to hanging up the Saiyan Scouter in Xenoverse 2 for a while. Now, we have confirmation of some mechanics coming to the game, as well as the new West City and even the ability to briefly transform into other Dragon Ball characters during combat.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Lets You Transform Into Other Characters During Combat
Bandai Namco unveiled the “Welcome to West City” trailer today, which showcases this new hub-like area, as well as the playable character alongside some brand-new cast members, still created by the late Akira Toriyama.
While many people loved seeing this footage, they also noticed new things, such as the ability to transform into iconic characters during a fight. Now, while many were confused at first when seeing this, some of the Summer Game Fest previews that are already out have confirmed that this is a momentary thing. For instance, you can only transform into whatever character you have equipped for a few seconds. After that, you’ll play as your avatar again, meaning that you’ll have to use this strategically in some encounters.
Some of the hands-off previews also mentioned how Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 still feels like a Xenoverse title in many ways, but with some Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot details in it. For instance, the fight you’ve seen against Broly has several mechanics akin to boss fights in the RPG, and even fighting enemies and traversing the map seems much more immersive and seamless, such as in the 2020 classic.
The truth is that we’re extremely excited for these new mechanics, as they seem like a fitting evolution to the series. Still, what many are hoping to see soon, beyond the new systems, are the customization, race, and transformation options. With how the series has progressed outside of the video game department, many are hoping to see new forms for certain races, such as Giant Namekians or a different form for the Buu race. Yet, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see what Bandai Namco is cooking up. But by the looks of it, this long-awaited installment is in great hands.
