The lead writer for Avatar: the Last Airbender is working on a new animated series for Netflix. As Netflix has proven, it knows how to catch and keep an audience. With the Twitter announcement of the series The Dragon Prince, it may have just pulled in a few more die hard fans.

Created by Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond, The Dragon Prince tells the story of “two human princes who forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands,” according to a statement from Netflix.

The above tagline sounds very reminiscent to Ang and Prince Zuko’s story in The Last Airbender.

The Dragon Prince, an epic fantasy series by the head writer and director of Avatar: the Last Airbender, is coming soon to Netflix! Learn more at our San Diego Comic-Con panel on 7/21/18 @ 11AM in room 25ABC.

Ehasz took to Twitter to explain when fans will learn more about the upcoming animated series.

The teams at Wonderstorm, Bardel, and Netflix have been working hard to bring a shared vision to life. So proud to be announcing The Dragon Prince today, and excited to talk about it at SDCC and share this epic story soon!”

A special presentation will take place at a San Diego Comic-Con panel July 21st featuring Ehasz and Richmond, co-creator of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The name of the team behind the animated series is Wonderstorm. Wonderstorm is an entertainment startup out of Los Angeles created by Ehasz, Richmond, and Justin Santistevan, a former producer with Riot Games. Along with working on The Dragon Prince, they are creating a video game as well.

From Avatar: The Last Airbender and Futurama to Uncharted and League of Legends, we feel lucky to have contributed to stories and games that have resonated with fans for many years.”

Netflix has a huge following of fans with their selection of anime and the return of Castlevania this October. Plus their option to request shows, movies, and content is keeping them relevant in the fast-paced market of film and television.

There is no date for The Dragon Prince yet, but here is a list of everything new on Netflix for July.

Hopefully we get a trailer with the special presentation at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
