We all know that there are several states in the country that have some questionable regulations and laws, with some of them affecting several people, especially when it comes to health matters. As you know, Indiana practically has a ban on abortions. This is particularly dangerous as some women who have complications during a pregnancy need to travel to another place to undergo certain surgeries. Today, a woman from Indiana expressed her fear of having a baby in the state and is already looking for different and safer options, mainly traveling to another location to have proper healthcare.
Recently, a Reddit user going by the name of Showmeyourvocalfolds posted on the Indiana subreddit, asking if there were other women leaving Indiana to have their child due to the abortion bans. As you may know, Indiana is known for having strict laws against abortion. While there are a few cases where it may happen, it is a near-complete ban on the procedure, which has caused a lot of people to raise their voice on the matter, as sometimes abortion is necessary due to health issues that may come with pregnancy.
In their post, OP mentioned how they are worried about having their baby in the state. They mention how one of their friends was having a miscarriage and had to go through D&C, but the hospital told her to drive to another place, and to do it fast, as the hospital they were at was not allowed to do the procedure.
This is what prompted OP to ask if there were other women in the same situation, and some Redditors jumped into the post to share their thoughts, with many saying that citizens need to do something to stop the abortion laws in the state.
Indiana Redditors Things the Abortion Bans Should Disappear
After seeing this post, Redditors across the state started commenting, with some sharing OP’s thoughts, while others said there are even more issues related to the maternity system.
“Maternity wards are closing, OB-GYNs are leaving, and students are opting for residencies in states where they can learn proper maternity care. The future is bleak.“
“Yes, I’m scared all the time that I will have an ectopic pregnancy and will not have access to life-saving care before I go into septic shock and die.“
Others said that this might be a countrywide issue, and that there are better chances of having a safer pregnancy elsewhere.
“I was just reading about this, actually. I have a better chance of surviving pregnancy in China or Thailand than in Indiana, USA.”
In the end, Redditors are urging citizens to vote against the abortion bans, as this will help the community as a whole.
