This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

The Shaded Castle is a prominent landmark in Elden Ring located in the valley far north of the Grand Lift of Dectus in Altus Plateau. The stronghold is surrounded by a poisonous swamp and houses a variety of dangerous enemies, including Depraved Perfumer, Cleanrot Knights, and even Royal Revenants. To enter the Shaded Castle, Tarnished adventurers can access the Shaded Castle Ramparts through a small crumbled ramp leading to the area’s first Site of Grace. Once inside the outer ward, Elden Ring players must make their way through the fortification to find and slay the castle’s ruler, Elemer of the Briar.

How To Complete The Shaded Castle In Elden Ring

The Shaded Castle Elden Ring Map Where To Find Elemer of the Briar

While there is plenty of common loot to be found within the Shaded Castle in Elden Ring, players can discover three unique valuables of interest in this Dungeon, excluding the Elemer of the Briar’s drops. These items include the “Champion’s Song” Painting, Valkyrie’s Prosthesis, and the Perfumer’s Cookbook (2).

First, the “Champion’s Song” Painting can be found within a sunken house on the far western side of the outer ward in the Shaded Castle. Interact with the Painting to spawn its treasure, the Harp Bow. The seated artist’s ghost of “Champion’s Song” is located near the ledge, north of the hill where Ancient Dragon Lansseax appears. Next, Valkyrie’s Prosthesis is a quest item essential for progressing Millicent’s story in Elden Ring. Adventurers can find this prosthetic arm within a chest in the castle’s eastern tower, guarded by a Cleanrot Knight. Thirdly, the Perfumer’s Cookbook (2) can be looted from a seated corpse atop the castle’s library ladder. However, before mentioning this item, players must understand how to navigate the Shaded Castle to reach Elemer of the Briar in Elden Ring.

To get into the Shaded Castle’s upper interior level, climb the tall ladder sitting in the western half of the outer ward. Jump across the rooftops directly ahead to access the Shaded Castle Inner Gate Site of Grace. Head through the ruined hall and ascend another ladder in the left alcove. Next is the castle library in Elden Ring, with several enemies waiting to ambush the player. The ladder inside the library is the one mentioned above that will lead players to the Perfumer’s Cookbook (2). On the opposite side of the library, players must cross an overpass to reach a stairwell leading to an elevator. Be careful of the Cleanrot Knights along the way. After getting to the lift, ride it to the next level to reach the bridge connected to the boss chamber. Enter the Castellan’s Hall and defeat Elemer of the Briar to receive the Briar Greatshield and Marais Executioner’s Sword in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
