Elton John is one of the latest celebrities to speak out recently about the difficulties he has suffered with his health and aging. The Rocketman hitmaker’s health is not the best these days, and it has him thinking about his mortality and fears for his future.
At 77, singer Elton John has begun battling several health issues, including persistent hip and knee trouble, prostate cancer, type 2 diabetes, and a severe eye infection that left him partially blind. He understands that many new concerns and fears come at this stage of his life. However, lately, it seems that his failing health issues have become a more significant worry for his family.
His two young sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11, have begun sharing their concerns for their dad, Elton, and his husband, David Furnish. According to Radar Online, Elton states, “They think about my mortality. They worry about my mortality. Not so much David, but me. (They) love their daddy, so they want me to be around forever, (and) I would love to be around forever.”
Elton John’s health sparked many fan concerns in 2023 as the singer ended his final Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour performance before retiring. They were shocked and left very worried about the legendary singer as he appeared ‘crippled’ as she shuffled his way to the stage during the Glastonbury festival.
Since then, Elton has dealt with a downward decline in his health. His ailments have affected his ability to perform and his family’s peace of mind.
Elton John Acknowledges His ‘Time Is Precious’
The singer made recent news headlines after engaging in what many considered strange and bizarre public acts. During a July shopping trip in Nice, France, Elton John was denied access to a restroom.
According to TMZ, Elton’s urgency left him with no choice but to take matters into his own hands. He then shocked store personnel, his family, and news outlets by peeing in a bottle at a shoe store.
He reportedly asked his bodyguards for a bottle and stepped away from other shoppers in the store. Next, he peed into the bottle and then asked his security team for a towel to clean up some urine that had splashed on the floor.
Elton John has had a long list of ailments over the years, including persistent hip and knee trouble, prostate cancer, and type 2 diabetes. He also had a pacemaker installed following a heart scare in 1999. Recently, he shared with fans that he was battling a severe eye infection that left him partially blind.
Despite his numerous health challenges, Elton John’s determination to spend quality time with his family is truly inspiring. He acknowledges that he may not be around to witness all the milestones in his son’s lives. But he is committed to making the most of his time with them.
But for now, Elton John wants to embrace the time he has and enjoy every moment with his children. “I want to see them have children and get married. I don’t think I’m going to be around for that. Who knows? You never know.”
“So that’s why I want to use the best time – the best of my time – while I’m around. Time together is so wonderful and so precious.” Hopefully, Elton John will get his health under control and spend as many years as possible making memories with his family.
