‘Enough of Your Lies’: New York Sen. Chuck Schumer Goes After Trump With Anti-Corruption Bill, Drawing MAGA Outrage

Looks like he struck a nerve

Conservatives on X were outraged on Thursday after Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer introduced a bill that would create a new federal agency dedicated to investigating and preventing corruption within the executive branch. The New York senator accused President Donald Trump and his family of using the presidency for personal financial gain, saying the bill would help “crack down on this unprecedented corruption.”

Donald Trump’s rampant corruption and brazen self-dealing at the expense of the American taxpayer must be stopped.

“Trump’s corruption isn’t a victimless crime,” the senator said during a press event. “As Trump swims in the billions of dollars his family has made off the presidency, Americans are drowning in at least $3,100 in higher costs from the very same policies that are enriching Trump.”

Schumer touted the legislation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau Creation Act, as the “biggest, boldest, and broadest” anti-corruption proposal ever introduced.

The bill would give the new agency subpoena authority, investigative powers, the ability to recover money allegedly obtained through corruption, and oversight of several existing federal ethics offices. It would also make it harder for future presidents to weaken or dismantle the bureau.

“No president has ever, ever come close to this level of self-dealing and self-enrichment,” Schumer said. “When Trump and his family make $4 billion off the presidency in just 18 months, the American people demand that we respond.”

Schumer’s Proposal Faces Pushback From Trump Supporters

After unveiling the New York legislation at the press event, Schumer shared a clip of his remarks on X, prompting conservatives to criticize the proposal in the comments.

Some accused the senator of suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome and claimed the bill was simply another attempt to target the president.

“You got nothing good to say but bash the president. No good ideas, no ways to help! You’re a pathetic role model,” one netizen said. Another wrote, “Chuck enough of your lies to demean the President! You have been a traitor to the American people and a parasite!” A third commented, “People know when you speak you are projecting the left’s issues onto President Trump. You’re the problem, Chuck.” A fourth chimed in, “You Demonrats can’t do anything to help the American people—it’s always ‘I have to get Trump.'”

Others questioned whether Schumer was in a position to champion anti-corruption efforts.

“You look so stupid and ignorant, are you really fighting corruption?” one commenter asked. Someone else added, “All your lying will not stop the American people from wanting democracy instead of your communistic proposals.”

Not everyone opposed the proposal, however. Some supporters said they hoped the legislation would accomplish what Schumer promised.

“Finally a law that can chase the cat out of the bag. Hope it catches more than just headlines,” one supporter remarked. Another suggested, “The first thing that needs to be dealt with is those mindless MAGA supporters!!”

The proposal is the latest effort by congressional Democrats to challenge Trump’s agenda since his return to office. In recent months, they have also criticized projects tied to the administration, including plans for a new White House ballroom, renovations to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, and the Department of Homeland Security’s nearly $1.8 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund, which critics have described as a “MAGA slush fund.”

Schumer said the legislation is intended to strengthen federal ethics and New York laws and close what he described as loopholes exploited by the Trump administration.
