As capsuleers prepare for another chapter in EVE Online, CCP Games has just unveiled Revenant, the next major expansion set to launch on November 12, 2024. Following the success of last year’s Havoc expansion, Revenant continues the Deathless Saga, pushing players deeper into the heart of a conflict that’s been brewing since Zarzakh’s discovery.
In Havoc, players were introduced to the Deathless, an enigmatic pirate figure, who drew them into a treacherous battle for control over insurgency zones. The expansion saw players aligning with pirate factions, destabilizing star systems, or resisting corruption to protect the empires of New Eden. It brought with it the chaos of space piracy and introduced major upgrades like the reworked Corporation Projects. Players had to decide: embrace the corruption or fight back in the name of order.
Now, with Revenant, those choices come to a head. The Deathless, victorious in the battle for Zarzakh, faces a new threat as the Drifters return, setting their sights on a mysterious structure with ancient roots. The stakes are raised as capsuleers are called upon to assist the Deathless, uncovering hidden technology that could either turn the tide of war or unleash catastrophic power.
One of the standout features of EVE Online Revenant is the introduction of mercenary dens. These strategic structures can be built in nullsec, offering a new layer of depth to player-driven warfare. Capsuleers can upgrade their dens, deploy them around skyhooks, and engage in Tactical Operations to generate encrypted infomorphs. These can then be exchanged with the Deathless for exclusive rewards—new ships like the Tholos (destroyer) and Cenotaph (battlecruiser), both designed for brutal close-range combat and cloaked ambush tactics.
In a press release, Creative Director Bergur Finnbogason described the expansion’s core theme with the proverb “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” He emphasized how Revenant extends the Deathless Saga into uncharted territory, offering players new technology and deadly tools to either harness its power or suppress it.
EVE Online Revenant also introduces expanded Corporation Projects, allowing groups to streamline their efforts. New project types, such as ship insurance, will make it easier for corporations to automate key functions, while creative tools for SKINR will enable players to craft and share custom ship skins, fostering a stronger sense of unity and visual identity.
As a recap, the new content adds the following:
- Deathless vs. Drifters Conflict: Defend an ancient structure under siege by the Drifters, uncovering secrets with the potential to shift the balance of power in New Eden.
- New Gameplay Systems: Build Mercenary Dens, deployable in nullsec, to generate and exchange encrypted infomorphs for ships and weapons.
- Hybrid Ships and Advanced Combat: Access two new hybrid ships—the Tholos (destroyer) and Cenotaph (battlecruiser)—featuring damage-over-time weaponry and the ability to deliver devastating post-mortem attacks.
- Expanded Corporation Tools: Manage multiple activities and goals under a unified framework through enhanced Corporation Projects.
- Deeper Customization: Use new nanocoatings and patterns with advanced blending options for deeper ship customization.
