On November 8, 2023, Will Smith joined a host of hip-hop legends including Rick Ross, Queen Latifah, and Jeezy at The Grammys Salute to Hip Hop at 50. The event featured amazing performances in celebration of the genre that began in the 1970s and spread across the world. After a month of anticipation, the two-hour special finally aired on Sunday, leaving fans reminiscing about the golden era of Hip Hop. One of the notable moments was Smith’s reunion with DJ Jazzy Jeff on stage. Recall that the pair bagged the first Hip Hop Grammy Award in 1989 with their song Parents Just Don’t Understand.

With Jazzy Jeff behind the turntable, Smith took fans back to 1988 with their song Brand New Funk. The duo kept the audience entertained with other hits before concluding with Summertime. While Smith’s performance was iconic, the icing on the cake was his outfit. Smith, who has been enmeshed in controversy lately, sported the same red Phillies jersey and red baseball cap he wore to the Grammys in 1998.ย
