FFXIV Players Have Already Replaced The Latest Store Outfit With a Cheaper Alternative

We have Alphinaud at home.

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Nowadays, there are two things I don’t fully reveal about myself: my favorite Nickelback song and the amount of money I’ve spent on FFXIV store outfits. I don’t deny I’m a compulsive buyer in this MMO. After all, once you finish the MSQ, you can only do two things: Savage content or play this title as a dress-up game; I opt for the latter. With that in mind, the latest store outfit for FFXIV is so underwhelming and expensive that players have already made a cheaper alternative.

You Can Get a Dyable Version of FFXIV’s Latest Store Outfit Without Spending Real Money

The latest FFXIV outfit to arrive at the optional store is Alphinaud’s Shadowbringers attire. It is a pretty cool ensemble and one of my favorites for this character. However, in true Square Enix fashion, the outfit was completely useless. Why? You can’t dye it, and that’s a sin in the eyes of this MMO’s players. While the pieces don’t look bad, why can’t we dye them? You all know that the most anticipated feature of Dawntrial is being able to add two dyes to an armor piece, so why make this new attire undyeable? Beats me. But, players quickly found a way to make Alphinaud’s Shadowbringers outfit in FFXIV for “free.”

By spending your hard-earned gil, which at least isn’t real-life money, you can replicate the ensemble by getting the Serge Gambison of Casting, Fingerless Boarskin Gloves, Felt Chauses, and Ironworks Boots of Casting. According to a Reddit post by user Runezure, it’ll cost you less than 100,000 Gil, which you can get by doing a few roulettes. And the cherry on top of this? You can dye every piece.

It is strange to see FFXIV dropping the ball yet again with another store outfit, but at least it is entirely optional. It doesn’t offer any benefits other than cosplaying one of Eorzea’s most famous twins. So, if you want to get it, go ahead; it might be 12 dollars well-spent on it. However, there are cheaper and better glamour options in the game, and you can instead spend your bucks on some other useful items from the store. Hopefully, the developers will listen to player feedback and bring better attires in the future.
